Reprogramming Self-Worth: Breaking Free from Subconscious Limitations

Our minds and bodies are so incredible! We have the ability to unconsciously and automatically operate throughout the majority of our day. Our heart beats automatically, our lungs expand and contract, and we move our muscles with hardly any thought. We can brush our teeth, drive a car, walk, and run without a care in the world. We know the direction to the store or a friend’s house and back home without even thinking about it.

It is incredible how much we store and don’t even have to worry about what we are doing!

But what else are we doing unconsciously?

Not only are we able to do all of these everyday life things without even thinking about them, but you might not be aware that there are also subconscious programs directing your thoughts, interactions, and perception of the world around you. These programs run on autopilot because that is how our brains operate, like a well-functioning computer. We live 95% of our lives in our subconscious programs.

If we experienced hurtful situations in our past that created unconscious programs of distrust, we may continue to lack trust with our partner, our business associates, and even ourselves—not fully knowing what is best for us or how to listen to our intuition.

If we experienced neglect, abuse, or a lack of love in our childhood, we may have created an unconscious program of "I am worthless." This program may affect all of our current interactions without us even knowing it.

FOR EXAMPLE

Have you ever really wanted to buy the $199 pair of Paul Green leather shoes—the kind that feel soft from the first moment you put your foot in them, with the built-in orthopedic insole that provides a stable base to keep your back from aching at the end of the day? Or have you ever wanted to buy the $139 pair of shorts that feel like butter on your body, washing and drying so well they would last for years?

You didn’t buy them. But you did buy three pairs of $50 synthetic shoes that took a year to break in with band-aids on your heels, and four pairs of $30 H&M shorts that only lasted one season due to quality breaking down in the wash.

It’s not actually about the money; it’s about your subconscious programs!

Without even realizing it, the subconscious program of I’m not worth it showed up.  You just couldn't buy the $199 shoes (maybe the thought was that they were even “ridiculous”), but the $50 ones were easy to buy - they were within the comfort zone of your self-worth!

When it comes to healing from past hurts, our subconscious programs show up in exactly the same way.

  • “How can I possibly spend thousands of dollars on myself?”

  • “I don’t have that kind of money!”

  • “I don’t have the time to attend a session every week!”

The reality is, the I’m not worth it program just reared its ugly head in full force.

The very thoughts you are trying to get help with, the beliefs that created a need in you to look for outside support, are the very same ones that prevent you from investing in yourself and committing to the time it takes to feel better. What a wild ride, isn’t it?

I am the first to raise my hand on understanding this because, at one point in my life, I was there myself. There are still moments when I notice this program showing up, and I have to take some time to dissect what is actually happening in my thought process. I injured my shoulder a couple of years ago, and it took me over a year to get help. Why? I had not given myself the time and investment needed for regular massage, acupuncture, and ultrasound because my old programs were preventing me:

  • "I’m not worth the time,"

  • "I’m not worth the investment,"

  • "Others’ needs are more of a priority than mine."

Sure, I did a few things during that first year. But I didn't commit to anything, and I did not do any modalities that actually got to the root of the injury and healed my shoulder sustainably. Once I came to this revelation, I invested in myself and received the help that I needed to heal!

CONTEMPLATIVE QUESTIONS

  • Do you find yourself repeatedly attracting the same type of partner, even when you consciously choose differently? What might this reveal about your underlying subconscious programs?

  • Are there aspects of your personality that you dislike or feel ashamed of? How might these traits be connected to past experiences or learned behaviors?

  • Do you struggle with financial stability or find yourself stuck in a cycle of scarcity? What early messages or experiences might have shaped your current beliefs about money?

  • Are there recurring health issues or chronic conditions that you face? How might these be linked to unresolved emotional stress or past trauma?

  • Do you often feel unworthy or undeserving of success and happiness? How do these feelings influence your daily actions and decisions?

✨ Committing and investing in yourself sends such a powerful message to your brain!

💫 It is the first step toward breaking the “I’m not worth it” pattern!

It is the first step toward your healing and you are worth it!
